Faculty of Medicine of the University of Indonesia
Faculty of Medicine of the University of Indonesia is located at Jalan Salemba Raya No. 4-6, Central Jakarta. It has European architectural design was built in between 1916 until 1920. This building was initially used as Medical Higher education called Genesskundige Hoogeschool (GHS), replaced of Stovia. During the Japanese era, it was used as Medical University named Ika Dai Gaku. In the early days of Independence, it became Universiteit van Indonesia.
The historical aspect of this building is there were many students of this university became significant figures of the national movement, apposing the Japanese authorities and became fighters during physical revolution. One of the lectures was Dr. Mukthar, a malaria specialist, was killed by the Japanese kempeitai (Military Police).
